To commemorate International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (IDEVAW), a research seminar was organized on 22 November 2016 to showcase PAVE’s effort in analysing trends and outcomes of its casework services.

At the 20th anniversary of the National Family Violence Networking Systems Conference held on 16 November 2016, PAVE was recognised for its contribution to the management of family violence in Singapore over 2 decades. PAVE as an organisation and Dr Sudha Nair were recognised for their role in pioneering specialised services in the area of family violence.

PAVE social workers conducted an interactive session on dating violence to about 100 participants at the Inspiration Exchange Networking Forum. Organised by the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF), this event aimed to bring together professionals to share best practices and approaches in engaging children, youth and families.

PAVE presented a paper on partnering the police in the management of family violence at its annual Koban Seminar on 11 Oct 2016. 30 representatives from the Asia Pacific region participated in the Seminar.

PAVE was one of the agencies that Japanese researchers Assoc. Professor Aisa Kiyosue, Assoc. Professor Utako Matsumura and Dr. Yanshu Li visited as part of their study in examining the management of family violence in Singapore.

For the third year running, PAVE was invited to Assumption Pathway Secondary School (APS) to raise awareness on family violence and dating violence to its students and staff. A skit focusing on dating violence was presented by PAVE's staff on 24 August 2016.

Two workshops on "Breaking the cycle of family violence: Protective role of My First Skool" were organised on 29 June and 15 August 2016 respectively. The platform was initiated by the principal of My First Skool in a neighbouring block at Ang Mo Kio. The aim was to enhance her team of childcare teachers’ knowledge on impact of family violence on pre-school children.

Getai is a powerful way to reach out to the elderly who may not have access to the media such as newspapers or television. It was also a novel way to share messages about elder abuse in a non-threatening manner. It featured performances by popular Getai artists, with the interjections of information such as types and indicators of abuse and ways of accessing help.

A charity golf event to raise funds for the renovation of the Family Violence Specialist Centre was successfully held on 31 May 2016 at Tanah Merah Country Club. The Guest of Honour was Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and PAVE’s Advisor, Dr Mohamed Maliki Bin Osman. A total of $270,274 was raised.

The Management of Family Violence training modules were provided through the Social Service Institute to social service professionals. Two runs of the Practice Certificate module were conducted over the 2 financial years.

A series of activities were carried out through various platforms to mark DVAW. The aim was to reach out to a wider audience through organizing a photo/video competition on Facebook and posting a series of articles and resources for the public to access.
