World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

June 15 has been designated as the World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. PAVE, in collaboration with several CCCs across Singapore is organizing 5 Getai performances in Singapore, to encourage everyone in the community to help recognise and report elder abuse. Everyone in the community can do their part in detecting elder abuse early and support our seniors to get the help that they need.

The upcoming Getai performance will be held at Ang Mo Kio Community Centre on 29 June 2017. Join us for a eventful night and learn more on how you too can break the silence on elder abuse.

Protection from Harassment Act (POHA)

Victims caught in the abusive cycle can seek help from the Protection from Harassment Act (POHA) 2014. It addresses harassment in the context of cyber harassment, stalking, bullying and sexual harassment.

Here are 5 things to know about the Protection from Harassment Act (POHA):
1. Act will protect victims of all types of harassment, including stalking.
2. Victims may apply directly to the Court for a Protection Order.
3. Victims of false statements of facts alleged against him or her can seek recourse.
4. The Act applies both to the physical world and online world, and may also apply out of Singapore.
5. Penalties include fines and jail terms.

Dating Violence Awareness Week 2017

It is Valentine's Day next week. Today also marks the start of our Dating Violence Awareness Week or DVAW for short. Throughout this whole week, we will upload a series of post on our Facebook page to spread the message about dating violence.

PAVE applauds China's new domestic violence laws for being inclusive by providing protection to live-in partners as well.

"CHINA PASSES FIRST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE LAW, GAY COUPLES EXCLUDED"

China's largely rubber stamp parliament on Sunday passed the country's first law against domestic violence, which covers unmarried people who cohabit but does not protect gay couples, a senior lawmaker said.

Elder Abuse Awareness Week

5 June marks the World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that around 4-6% of the elderly in developed countries have experienced some form of maltreatment at home. This number may be small but it could just be the tip of the iceberg.

In conjunction with the World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, PAVE will be sharing a series of Facebook posts this week to increase awareness of elder abuse. Like and share our post to join our cause to spread awareness on elder abuse.

International Day of Elimination of Violence against Women (IDEAW)

The United Nations General Assembly has designated November 25 as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (IDEAW). IDEAW is observed to raise awareness of ending all forms of violence against women all over the world. This year, PAVE commemorates this day by recognizing the commitment and efforts of individuals, including our past and existing clients in building respectful relationships and for their tremendous courage in seeking help.

International Day of Elimination of Violence against Women (IDEVAW)

The United Nations General Assembly designated 25 November as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and invited governments, international organizations and NGOs to organize activities designed to raise public awareness of the problem on that day. PAVE is proud to present its second seminar on 22 November 2013 (Friday) to commemorate the IDEVAW. This year we will be presenting many interesting research articles from the field of domestic violence. The seminar will be held at YMCA International House @ One Orchard.
